Dominik Hauser has mastered the art of instrumental beauty. His compositions are evocative and conjure brilliant imagery. This is exactly the sort of talent that brings cinema to life and provides the lush musical backing for artistic endeavors in need of such.

Dominik Hauser hails from Switzerland, where he received an education at Jazz School Switzerland, earning a master's degree in music. His talent extends from composition to arrangement to instrumental performance, including bass work for jazz-funkers The Ruleless. He is the recipient of the coveted Prix Walo and has taken the stage at the Montreux Jazz Festival. 1996 saw Hauser pull up stakes and relocate to Los Angeles, where he re-entered the education arena. His studies took him to UCLA and it was there Hauser learned about film scoring. Subsequently, he took his skills to the realm of indie cinema and began composing for film. Hauser was a privileged participant in the 2000 ASCAP film-scoring workshop and elevated to semifinalist status in the 2002 Young Film Composer Competition.

Hauser has worked for films featuring such stars as Vin Diesel ("The Chronicles of Riddick") and Charlize Theron ("Aeon Flux"). He teaches at Musicians Institute in Hollywood and has recently published his third book, Beginning Jazz Bass. His work involves him in a variety of projects, including cinema, theater, and video games.

Hauser says the secret to effective music is simple -- you've got to make contact with the listener. "I am trying to write music that connects and touches other people. I like them to have an emotional response to what I write." Thus, that emotional potency is a terrific focus of his creative process. Hauser's music invariably elicits powerful emotional reactions from audience members. His inspirations range from revered classical composers to modern musical geniuses, though his work is uniquely his own and derivative of none.
